Santa has come to town

Last week one of the mums and tots groups we attend had a visiting Santa.  In fact, 3 of the mums and tots groups had Santa to visit.   Adam got 3 gifts and 3 sightings of Santa for free!   Don't know why anyone would pay £13 to queue at Castle Court to see him.... but anyway, each to their own.

A few posts ago I said that I wouldn't be telling him about Santa, and I still stand by that.   I don't want him thinking that Christmas is celebrating the birth of Santa and that he is the reason for presents.   I won't be telling him the commercial hyped-up point about Santa as it's another capitalist lie.

But I've seen that Santa is everywhere and every 4th person will ask my almost-2-year-old, "who is coming to see you this Christmas?  Santa, eh??" and he'll look at them impassively.

I'd be foolish to not even tell him the name of Santa and a bit of background, so that's what I'm doing.   At a distance it works a dream.   At each 3 mums and tots visits from Santa Adam has waved, said hello and waved bye to him.   But he wouldn't go up to him to recieve his pressie.  On the 3rd attempt his dad was there with us and he liked the idea of getting a picture of Adam with Santa...

The guy dressed up as Santa was a member of that church and someone Adam had seen every Tuesday since mums and tots started in September.   In 'real' life Adam wasn't afraid of this man, but dressed as Santa it was too much.

Funny thing is that once it was time for Santa to leave mums and tots and all the kids were waving bye bye Adam put his face in his hands and was sad.

There really is no logic in the mind of a 22 month old sometimes!
